Losing data on a Windows computer can happen to anyone at any time due to accidental file deletion, hard drive corruption, virus attack, or other problems. However, there’s no need to worry too much about data loss, as there are many powerful computer data recovery tools that can help you restore important files. In this article, we will learn how to recover permanently deleted files on Windows 10 and 11 using two of the most popular data recovery tools: DiskGetor Data Recovery and Active File Recovery.
Important notes before restoring and rescuing deleted data
- Protect Hard Drive Health : Avoid performing any operations on hard drives or partitions that may cause data loss. This helps ensure that the original data is not overwritten or further corrupted.
- Recover as Soon as Possible : Begin the data recovery process as soon as you discover the loss. This helps optimize the likelihood of successful data recovery.
- Store Rescued Data Safely : Do not store any salvaged data (if any) directly on the hard drive or partition where the data was lost. Instead, prepare another hard drive with enough capacity to safely store rescued data.
- Choose the Optimal Option : Choose an optimal data recovery option and software based on the condition and type of your hard drive. This saves you time and increases your chances of success in recovering deleted data on your important computer.
Method 1: Recover data on Windows 10, 11 with DiskGetor Data Recovery
Step 1: Download and install DiskGetor Data Recovery Unlimited software
DiskGetor Data Recovery is a software designed to recover permanently deleted files on Windows 10 and 11, as well as lost data on various storage devices, including hard drives, memory cards, USB sticks, and various types of partitions. This software is capable of scanning drives and retrieving deleted files, even after they have been formatted. You can click on [link] to download.
Step 2: Recover deleted data on hard drive
In this tutorial, we will demonstrate the process of finding and recovering deleted files on drive partition O:
Open the software and select the option “Recover Deleted Files” to begin the process of recovering data on Windows. Then, click Next. If you have accidentally formatted the drive and need to retrieve data from it, choose “Recover Formatted Drive” or the appropriate option for recovering lost data on the hard drive.
Continue to select the partition to recover deleted data. Like the screenshot, we are selecting drive O, check the box “Scan free sectors” and then click Next.
DiskGetor Data Recovery software will then scan the deleted files. Scanning time depends on operating speed and computer configuration. Please be patient while the scanning and recovery process for data recovery on Windows computer is completed.
Step 3: Choose where to store the data file
When recover data on Windows completed, the software will display recoverable files. You can click “Recover” to choose a storage location for these files. Note that you should save in a different partition or somewhere other than the partition you need to restore.
In this example, we are recovering from drive O and saving data to drive F. And please continue to wait patiently for the recovery process to be completed.
As a result, I was able to successfully recover almost all of the permanently deleted files on Windows 11. However, some of them were corrupted, possibly due to being overwritten by subsequent operations after deletion. Nevertheless, it’s good to have them saved. As long as you’re breathing, you’re still alive! 😀
Method 2: Restore permanently deleted files in Windows with Active File Recovery
Step 1: Download and install Active File Recovery software
Active@ File Recovery software is a powerful tool for restore permanently deleted files in Windows 10 and 11. It can scan and retrieve a wide range of common file formats, including .DOC, .ZIP, .AVI, .JPG, and many more. To access Active@ File Recovery, you can download and install the software by following this [link].
Step 2: Recover deleted data in the trash or permanently delete it (shift + delete)
Active File Recovery is also powerful software for rescuing data that has been lost due to incorrect formatting or files that have been permanently deleted using the shift + delete key.
To restore permanently deleted files in Windows and recover lost data on your computer, open the software, select the partition from which you want to recover data, and then click “Super Scan”.
Select the “Signatures Recognition” tab to select the file format you need to save. Click “ Scan ” to rescue data lost due to incorrect formatting or permanently deleted files. Here I want to recover photo files, so I selected “Photos & Images”. Now please wait patiently until the scanning process is completed.
The results we received included the files from the exact search “Photos & Images”. It also includes the other data files. The files marked as “Excellent” indicate a high success rate for recovery. “Very bad” indicates data with a low recovery rate.
To perform data recovery, select each folder and click Recovery, then select the storage location. Note in this step that you should store the file in a different place than the partition you need to restore. In this example, we are recovering from drive O and saving data to drive F. And please continue to wait patiently until the recovery process is completed.
Active File Recover is truly an excellent software. The data rescue results that we received were above all expectations. There are many photo files that I deleted a long time ago but Active File Recover can still find them.
Using data recovery software and the Windows File Recovery tool are two very effective ways to help you restore and save data on Windows 10 and 11 computers in cases of accidental data loss or deletion. Feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions.
