Instructions on how to install macOS on VirtualBox with Ubuntu 22.04 | 20.04, you can install all versions of macOS, in this article itsmeit used macOS Ventura.
Apple has always made it difficult to install its operating system on non-Apple hardware, making it difficult to take advantage of this tweaked operating system. Here itsmeit will show you how to install macOS in a VirtualBox virtual machine, or also with VMware. You’ll need a set of compatible hardware, along with a system with powerful enough components to run both Windows and macOS.
Step-by-step: Install macOS on VirtualBox for Ubuntu 22.04 Linux
First, you need to install the Oracle VM VirtualBox virtual machine software successfully. You will also need an ISO file of the version of macOS you want to install.
Step 1. Prepare ISO file and install VirtualBox
To be able to download ISO files directly from Apple is actually harder than you think. Even if you have access to a Mac, you won’t be able to download a copy of the operating system you installed. Regardless of what version of macOS your Mac is running, open the App Store page for the latest version of macOS — Monterey — and download the installer from there. You will still need to convert this APP file to DMG and then convert it from DMG to ISO to be able to install it in VirtualBox.
Stop wasting time, itsmeit has prepared some links to download versions to help you easily install macOS on VirtualBox for Ubuntu or Linux, saving time.
- ISO download link: macOS Catalina 10.15.7 Google Drive or 5 Part (split file)
- ISO download link: macOS Catalina 10.15.7 Mediafire or 5 Part (split file)
- ISO download link: macOS Ventura 10.13 Google Drive or 3 Part (split file)
Step 2. Set up a macOS virtual machine to install on VirtualBox Ubuntu
Open the installed VirtualBox and click “New” to create your new macOS virtual machine. Use the name of your macOS instance to name the virtual machine – for example, Ventura. Select type “Mac OS X” and Version “Mac OS X (64-bit).” then click Next.
Next, choose how much RAM will be allocated to your virtual machine. Allocating more RAM when installing macOS on VirtualBox with Ubuntu/Linux will help speed up the virtual machine but make sure you reserve enough RAM for it. While macOS Ventura requires a minimum of 8GB of RAM, you should have at least 16GB of RAM in your system to run both macOS and Windows comfortably.
Continue to click Next and select Create with “Create a virtual hard disk”.
Leave the default setting of “ VDI ” selected and click “Next”.
The next step to install macOS on VirtualBox for Ubuntu, decide if you want a virtual hard drive that is fixed-size or dynamically allocated. Dynamically will start small and can grow in size as more space is needed. A fixed-size drive will immediately take up the space set on your physical hard drive. According to itsmeit, you should choose dynamically allocated.
The last step in step 2 is to set up the drive and partition size to install macOS on VirtualBox with Ubuntu or Linux.
Step 3. Configure to Start Installing macOS with VirtualBox on Ubuntu
Once your virtual machine is highlighted, click the “ Settings ” gear. Select “ System ”, and uncheck “ Floppy ” in “Boot Order” settings. This will ensure that your virtual machine boots from your Ventura ISO file. Also, make sure you set “ Base Memory ” to the right level – 2048MB minimum.
Switch to the “ Processor ” tab set the number of CPUs to at least two and make sure “Enable PAE/NX” is enabled.
Select the “ Storage ” menu from the sidebar. Under “ Storage Devices ”, click “ Empty ”. Click on the blue drive icon in the top right corner of the screen and select the ISO file (Chose a dick file…), make sure that “ Use Host I/O cache ” is enabled. Click “OK” to save the changes.
Continue with “ Display ” and set “ Video Memory ” to 128MB, then click “ OK ” to save.
Next, go to the audio section and enable both “Audio Output” and “Audio Input”.
Note:
Before you can install macOS on VirtualBox, you need to run the following commands from the command line or PowerShell with administrator privileges on Windows or a terminal on Linux or Ubuntu. Make sure VirtualBox is closed before you try this.
For Windows, the following should work as provided. (Replace VenturaOS with the generated name for your macOS)
cd "C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\" VBoxManage.exe modifyvm "VenturaOS" --cpuidset 00000001 000106e5 00100800 0098e3fd bfebfbff VBoxManage setextradata "VenturaOS" "VBoxInternal/Devices/efi/0/Config/DmiSystemProduct" "iMac11,3" VBoxManage setextradata "VenturaOS" "VBoxInternal/Devices/efi/0/Config/DmiSystemVersion" "1.0" VBoxManage setextradata "VenturaOS" "VBoxInternal/Devices/efi/0/Config/DmiBoardProduct" "Iloveapple" VBoxManage setextradata "VenturaOS" "VBoxInternal/Devices/smc/0/Config/DeviceKey" "ourhardworkbythesewordsguardedpleasedontsteal(c)AppleComputerInc" VBoxManage setextradata "VenturaOS" "VBoxInternal/Devices/smc/0/Config/GetKeyFromRealSMC" 1
For Linux Ubuntu, open terminal from VirtualBox VMs folder then run the commands one by one. (Replace VenturaOS with the generated name for your masOS)
cd /home/$USER/VirtualBox\ VMs/ VBoxManage modifyvm "VenturaOS" --cpuidset 00000001 000106e5 00100800 0098e3fd bfebfbff VBoxManage setextradata "VenturaOS" "VBoxInternal/Devices/efi/0/Config/DmiSystemProduct" "iMac11,3" VBoxManage setextradata "VenturaOS" "VBoxInternal/Devices/efi/0/Config/DmiSystemVersion" "1.0" VBoxManage setextradata "VenturaOS" "VBoxInternal/Devices/efi/0/Config/DmiBoardProduct" "Iloveapple" VBoxManage setextradata "VenturaOS" "VBoxInternal/Devices/smc/0/Config/DeviceKey" "ourhardworkbythesewordsguardedpleasedontsteal(c)AppleComputerInc" VBoxManage setextradata "VenturaOS" "VBoxInternal/Devices/smc/0/Config/GetKeyFromRealSMC" 1
Finally, reopen VirtualBox, click the “ Start ” arrow to launch your virtual machine, then follow the instructions to install macOS on VirtualBox for Ubuntu.
When you run macOS on your PC (Windows or Ubuntu, Linux) there are many possible system configurations, but not all of them may be compatible with macOS. The ideal processor family to run macOS on Windows PCs is the 10th Gen Intel chipset. Other chipsets will probably run as well, but they may have issues with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and features and devices. other peripherals of the system.
