Some notes before dual boot Windows vs Ubuntu
To use Dual Boot Linux and Windows, disable fast boot mode in Windows and BIOS (if available). On Windows, run CMD with Admin rights and enter the following command to turn it off:
powercfg /h off
- Select “Install third-party”… instead of Download Updates.
- When there is a notice “Unmount partition” … then select “No” to continue
- Select something else in the step Installation type
- Create the Swap partition first, then the Ext4. partition
- Device to a boot you must select the Windows boot partition
Install Ubuntu for Dual Boot with Windows 11/10
Step 1. Prepare the Ubuntu ISO file and create a boot USB
- Download the latest Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.
- Use Rufus tool to create a Bootable USB.
- Ensure you have an available partition for the Ubuntu operating system.
Step 2. Boot from USB and create an unallocated partition
To install a dual boot configuration of Windows vs Ubuntu, you need two partitions: the first partition for Windows and the second partition for the Ubuntu operating system. To accomplish this, click on Gparted in the search menu and open it. (If you have already created the partitions, skip this step).
Now, restart your computer and boot from the USB by accessing the Boot menu. Refer to the instructions on accessing Boot Options. If you already have an “unallocated” partition, you can proceed to step 3 to install Ubuntu dual boot Windows 11 or Windows 10.
Choose “Try or Install Ubuntu”. Then seach and select the “Gparted” from menu. Ubuntu ICON => Enter Gparted => Gparted Partition Editor. Right-click on the partition to be split to install “Ubuntu -> Resize/Move“.
Drag the black arrow (number 1) to the left to create a new partition with an optional size. When the size is satisfactory, select Apply All (item number 3) to complete.
Step 3. Install Ubuntu dual boot Windows 11 or 10
Run the “Install Ubuntu” icon on the desktop, then select the language and establish an internet connection to download the necessary packages. Choose English as the language.

- Choose Logical and Beginning of this space.
- For Use as, select Swap area.

Next, create a partition containing Ubuntu OS.

Device for boot loader installation, need to select the EFI partition Windows Boot Manager. This is so that when installing Ubuntu, you can dual boot with Windows, without errors, can’t access windows or ubuntu. Next create a Linux Ext4 partition with the parameters as shown above.
Check if the item Device for boot loader is already “Windows Boot Manager”. Select “Install Now “to proceed with the installation. When asked, select “Continue”.
Step 5: Set up Time Zone and User, then Boot Ubuntu
Select your timezone
Account settings, the password section should put 1 character, for example, I set the password as number 1, because when using ubuntu every time I am prompted for a password, if the password is too long, it will cause you many difficulties.
Click continue and wait for the installation to complete.
